There are so many styles; your scooter will become an extension of your own image, whether it be urban, retro, functional or cool. They are the most environmentally friendly personal means of transport on the market today.

Current Models

Electric scooters that are designed like motor bikes are highly sought after. Some go as fast as 35 mph with little effort, and you save a packet by not needing gasoline, services and expensive insurance. A particularly popular current day model is the eGo-2. A combination of chrome and color, headlights, blinkers and controls mean it’s a sight to be admired by all. This particular model accelerates up to 25mph. There is also a design called the Xootr which is more like an electric skateboard and doesn’t have the features, but is a lot less costly. It will accelerate to 10mph, and look just like a child’s push along scooter. Some new designs are very compact and can even be folded for storage in between trips. Read the rest of this entry »

Nintendo 3DS

216339 nintendo3d 180 Nintendo 3DSNintendo’s 3DS has another trick up its sleeve for its glasses-free 3D handheld: a deck of augmented reality playing cards included with each game console.

The 3DS’s rear-facing camera can read cards when placed on a table, generating games or other events on the screen with the real world as the backdrop. In a private demo at the 2011 Consumer Electronics Show, I played a target-shooting mini-game and faced off against a fire-breathing dragon, which required me to dodge by shifting the console — and by extension, my entire body.

Nintendo said six of these cards will be included at launch, but wouldn’t say whether it will sell more cards in the future. Read the rest of this entry »

World’s Best Cities To Eat Well

Paris is known for its patisseries, Michelin-starred restaurants and perfectly prepared steak frites. In Rome, square slices of pizza topped with zucchini, Caprese sandwiches and of course, gelato, tempt foodies. In Tokyo, upscale favorites like sashimi and robatayaki rule alongside street food mainstays like Gyudon, a beef and onion mixture served over rice.

Tradition is a powerful sentiment. That’s why these pillars of global cuisine remain the top cities for foodies.

Mexico City and Barcelona round out the top five. While some Americans and Canadians might not regard Mexico City’s as a culinary hotspot, those in Europe and Asia do. “What they believe, whether it’s true or false, is what they’re conditioned to believe,” says Anholt. “Mexico City gets huge scores from Egypt, Russia, Sweden and Australia to name a few, which shows that Mexican is becoming an increasingly important cuisine globally.” Read the rest of this entry »

Porsche is known for its sleek and speedy cars, but beginning next month, the company will also be known for selling hybrids. The automaker will begin selling the company’s first production hybrid, the 2011 Porsche Cayenne S Hybrid SUV, in December at 197 Porsche dealerships in the U.S.

Although this is a hybrid vehicle, don’t expect to see record-breaking fuel efficiency. Drivers can expect to achieve 21 mpg in the city and 25 mpg on the highway. The Cayenne S Hybrid has a top speed of 150 mph and can accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in 6.1 seconds–definitely not typical of most hybrids. Read the rest of this entry »

The World’s Most Expensive Cities For Expats

Visitors to New York may gasp that locals frequently pay $20 for a single cocktail. But the Big Apple turns out to be cheaper than 26 other world cities. If you really want to feel sticker shock, try relocating to Luanda, Angola. The oil-rich capital city is the most expensive in the world for expatriates, a study released Tuesday shows.

World centers like the second-most expensive city Tokyo, No. 5 Geneva, Switzerland, and No. 8 Hong Kong are often associated with high costs, so it might seem surprising that an African city out-priced them. “To entice talented staff to [African] cities, multinationals need to provide the same standard of living and benefits that these employees and their families would experience at home,” said Constantin-Métral in a statement. “In some African cities, the cost of this can be Read the rest of this entry »
